How Covid19 offers your organisation great opportunities

Every organization has to deal with the Covid19 challenges, however organizations are facing difficulties managing their business to stay in a healthy situation it also brings great opportunities to accelerate your business, reshape your organization or parts of it, or initiate a Digital Transformation to further optimize or adjust your business. In this blog I would particular focus on continuous learning subject. During Covid19 we got the opportunity to get complete new insights as external “forces” were pushing us to move into a lockdown period. We had to work from home supported by technologies like Google Hangouts, Zoom and Microsoft Teams to ensure the workforce remains productive avoiding a complete shutdown of the business. We learned that the workforce is acting in different ways, people getting more productive as more focus could be applied, employee satisfaction increases as employees are able to plan their own time (e.g. having an improved work/life balance). But on the other hand isolation also occurs as employees missing their social contacts at the office workfloor. We learned from this that organizations could save money spending on office floors as parts of the office floors are now moved to home offices. The number of desks could be reduced and the workfoce working in the office should only be there in case of specific needs or situations. This also means that offices will become more and more a meeting place for colleagues to meet eachother and have their physical meeting combined with colleagues working remote. The impact on this is a cultural change within organizations (new ways of working adjusting the mindset of employees) including the fact that employees will be measured on the output (quality) they deliver instead of being in the office from 9 to 5 with a happier workforce delivering better results as one of the positive outcomes. Another positive outcome are the savings of office floorspace ensuring the remaining budget could be allocated to further invest in IT and Digitization of the organization. To achieve these positive outcomes (both the culture but also the digitization of the organization) strong leadership and advisory is needed while embracing continuous learning applying adjustments where needed based on the weekly retrospectives. of Covid19 for organisations
